Explain maslows theory of motivation?

This theory of motivation was developed by Abraham Maslow. According to this theory “ and individual is motivated by satisfaction of his or her needs”. Maslow also insists that the needs are in hierarchy and emphasizes of full filling these hierarchy step by step. Maslow has classified human needs as follow:

1.pshycological needs: these are the most basic and hence the most important type of need. They include basic need for several such as food, water, clothing, shelter, salary, etc. Maslow has consider psychological needs of as the lowest level of needs and say that “ unless needs are fulfill individual does not try to fulfill other higher order needs”.

2. safety needs: these are the needs for security and protection from physical and emotional. They include pension, insurance, gratuity, provident found etc. according to Maslow after psychological needs are fulfill on individual goes for safety needs.

3. esteem needs: this is higher order needs at this level. An individual tries to satisfy him or herself in the from of both personal and social esteem personal achievement and social recombination.

4. social needs: according to maslow fulfilling the psychological safety needs and individual wants be belong and associate with the friend and society and tries for social acceptance. This has been term as social need.

5. self actualization needs: this is the highest order need. At this level an individual realize that are achieved fully according to his potential .
